BIRTH DOULA

  1. Prenatal Support: Offer continuous emotional and informational support throughout pregnancy, including assistance with creating birth plans and discussing preferences for labor and birth.
  2. Educational Resources: Provide evidence-based information on pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum recovery to help clients make informed decisions.
  3. Physical Comfort Measures: Offer comfort techniques such as massage, positioning suggestions, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques during labor to help manage pain and promote relaxation.
  4. Emotional Support: Offer continuous emotional reassurance, encouragement, and empowerment to the birthing person and their partner throughout labor and birth.
  5. Advocacy: Serve as an advocate for the client’s preferences and wishes during labor and birth, helping to communicate with healthcare providers and ensure their voices are heard.
  6. Support for Partner: Offer guidance and support to the birthing person’s partner or support person, helping them understand their role and providing reassurance during the birthing process.
  7. Labor Monitoring: Provide continuous support during labor, including monitoring progress, suggesting position changes, and offering encouragement to maintain momentum.
  8. Assistance with Decision-Making: Help clients navigate unexpected situations or interventions during labor, providing information and support to make informed decisions.
  9. Birth Photography/Videography: I offer the option of capturing moments during labor and birth through photography or videography, if desired by the client.
  10. Postpartum Support: Offer initial breastfeeding support, assistance with bonding and early newborn care, and emotional support during the immediate postpartum period.
  11. Follow-Up: Provide follow-up support and resources in the days and weeks following birth, including assistance with breastfeeding, newborn care, and adjusting to life with a new baby.
  12. Referrals and Resources: Connect clients with additional support services, such as lactation consultants, postpartum doulas, mental health professionals, and community resources as needed.
  13. Childbirth Education: I offer childbirth education classes or workshops to help clients prepare for labor, birth, and the postpartum period.
  14. Virtual Support: In situations where in-person support is not possible, provide virtual support through video calls, phone calls, and messaging to offer guidance and reassurance during labor and birth.
